Islam dan Kebhinekaan di Indonesia: Peranannya dalam Membingkai Perbedaan

This paper is to discuss the problem of diversity, which is a necessity that cannot be avoided in human life. Differences arise from various aspects, such as differences in ethnicity, race, nation, or religion. Analyzing through the study of literature, this is a literary research. Data collected and analyzed entirely are from the documentation literature, writing in journals, other relevant and still appropriate media. This study is focusing on the role of Islam in framing diversity in Indonesia. The results of the study show that: Islam has an important role in the formation of the Indonesian state, and has become the majority religion of the Indonesian population, although the state also recognizes five other religions as official religions, Muslims in Indonesia prefer to bridge the existing differences towards unity in accordance with the motto "Unity in Diversity". In the Islamic perspective, difference is a nature, which is then implemented in the life of the nation and state, acceptance of the Pancasila as the ideology and principle of the Indonesian state. Personality compatible Islam here shortly becomes an important component in framing the national unity.
